We arrived nice and early to find the river was completely booked for the day. It was mild and warmer than the recent weather would have made you think it could have been. The river was up and coloured and with the number of anglers fishing it was going to be a tough day ahead.
I spent a few hours coaching, getting the guys to trot with a loafer float with a centrepin, getting the speed and presentation right.
We eventually caught a few fish, Grayling, Brown Trout and Sea Trout, making the guys very happy. I had a mess about on the fly for half an hour, using a tube fly from Tubeology. This accounted for a lovely Chub of 5lb, saving the best for last, as often happens.
