As these are not normally fished and there is a huge amount of weed in the water carrying loads of natural food, we were wondering if we could get the fish going on the bait we were going to be introducing.
Day one started brilliantly with a 6lb carp coming out within 5 minutes of starting, falling to Monster Crab Pellet and Sticky Pellets on a flat bed method feeder. This proved to be the last Carp caught for several hours. Several thousand Rudd later we finally had another Carp come to the net, caught on a little piece of Luncheon Meat.
A quick change to meat soaked in Monster Crab Injuicer and soon everyone was getting a few Carp out.
Lesson learned, swims baited up ready for day 2.
Next morning we arrived and set about preparing the swims for the day, baiting with Monster Crab Pellets & groundbait then preparing the luncheon meat.
When the first youngsters arrived, baits were cast in and within 4 minutes over half of them had carp on! Now this was a lot better.
Throughout the day there were loads of Carp caught, coming out on a regular basis. The meat was the big winner, but Monster Crab Pellets and Neon Squidgees also did extremely well. If we tried any other bait we sat there for ages biteless, unless we tried maggots when we had tiny Rudd crawling up the line.
Overall we had 6 fantastic days, a great team helping make it happen and a massive thanks to the Nash team for the bait.
