I went back to Mill Barn to have another go at the Perch there.I got pestered by Carp all day with fish from 3 to 6lb hitting everything I dropped in the water.I changed my approach and rested the swim for an hour while fishing to the far margin snags, where I was getting hit by yet even more Carp. When I came back to the nearside spot I hooked into 3 Roach in quick succession then I got my reward. it had taken several hours, but I eventually got a nice Perch of over 1lb8oz. This was to prove the only one I would catch though as the Carp made their presence felt again and wrecked the swim.
These are the snags we were fishing on the Avon. I took 3 lads to Crowsheath Fishery in Downham in Essex after Carp. We spent the first hour going over marker floats and how to set up and use them, then spodding to get some bait out, with all 3 lads having a go. Baits were then deposited and the waiting game started. Not an hour after putting out his bait, Charlie had a slow take. Striking into a solid looking fish he then played it out to the net without too many problems. The fish went into the net first time with no dramas and Joe did the netting duty very well.A lovely looking Mirror of 16lb15ozUnfortunately this was the only fish of the trip.
