Apparently the lake hadn't produced any fish in 2 weeks so this wasn't looking like it would be an easy day.
I set up not far from the bailiffs caravan but saw some moving fish in the bay by the cut through, 10 minutes moving all the gear, then get some bait in.
There were fish moving in the swim but tight in the reeds, making it difficult to get them out in the open. A carefully recast bait tight to the reeds, now with fake corn on the hair set the trap. After an hour I decided to change the other rig to a maggot clip and spod out more maggots. As I was baiting the clip my other rod tore off. Walking backwards to get the fish out of the snags I then started playing it properly. After a couple of minutes I slid the net under a little Mirror of 8lb6oz, hooked perfectly in the scissors.
This proved to be the only fish caught on the lake all day, so, though not a big fish, it was a result and worth the effort of moving everything.
Many thanks to Paul for taking loads of photos and helping the day run smoothly.
