We walked around the lakes and decided on a good spot where all three of them could fish together on the Car Park Pond Lake.
All three set up using waggler gear with maggot and corn hook baits. It was a slowish start but gradually got going as the morning wore on. Ellis was determined to prove that beginners’ luck does work as he caught roach, rudd, bream and carp on a fairly regular basis and had the largest fish of the day; a carp at 4lb 14oz. Ian, not wanting to get left out, caught several fish during the morning with his best a bream of about 3lb.
Come early afternoon, when we packed up, it had been a reasonably successful day for all concerned. They didn’t do too badly as everybody was finding the conditions hard and the fishing was a bit slow.
This was the first time I had been to Crow Green but it won’t be the last time. The venue is well laid out, it has good variety of species and accommodates anglers of all abilities. Access is reasonable and most of the swims are disabled friendly. It has a drinks vending machine and a bait vending machine in the very clean and well presented toilet block.
