3 days of events from Falconry and horse shows to gun dogs and fishing. Old traditional skills alongside the many food vans, plus some people there collecting for the Help for Heroes, supporting the veterans from the Gulf Conflict.
We had a marquee at the far end of the ground next to the amazing gun dogs, where we were teaching people to cast with a feeder rod, float rod and pole work. Being a “dry” venue people think you can’t teach fishing, but we get the chance to teach some skills rather than just getting someone to catch a couple of fish.
There were times we thought we might get washed away with the rain or blown away by the wind, but we managed to survive. The weather played a big part in proceedings as it was very cold and windy every day, keeping numbers lower than we would usually expect.
By the time we get around to packing up we were all ready to get home and crash out, day after and I can’t wait to get out for the next one :)
